We get asked this so many times, and it's a good one: How do you stick photos into a photo album?
To be honest there are lots of ways that work really well and its is so much easier to do than you think! Here are a few guidelines.
1) Before you get to the sticking-in phase, have a good look through the photos you've curated and think of the order of the photo album. Are you going chronological, are you going via a theme eg. places you went, wildlife you saw, people you met, are you going to do before the event, different elements of the event and then behind the scenes of the event? And then put your photos into piles so you know your plan.
2) Think of the page, do you have more landscape or portrait photos and how are they going to be orientated on the page of the album? Lay them out on the page before you stick so you know what the page is ultimately going to look like. Do you want to write next to the photos? If so then make sure to leave room :)
3) If you're sticking in 4x6" photos and they're all nice and flat (not slightly curled) then mounting squares work really well. You need one in each corner and potentially a couple in the middle of the photo and then you press them on to the page, hold down for a bit so the warmth of your hand activates the glue and then you're good to go.
4) If you've got bigger photos or particularly heavy photos the I recommend using double sided tape - which is essentially a long row of mounting squares! This is really strong and will work a treat. You just place it on the edge of the photos, peel off the back and press down onto the page.
5) Glue dots are good - but can be quite pricey - and work in the same way as mounting squares. You can get these in varying stickiness so that's good too!
6) If you're creative - and you'll know this! - then I've seen people make amazing photo albums using washi tape. Have a look on Pinterest. We had an American customer once send us photos of one of our photo albums made up and it was unbelievable with poems stuck in, dried flowers, photos - really good!
All our photo albums are made with really thick, premium, acid-free photo board and are robust, smooth and ready for the task! They are perfect for writing on (you can use a felt pen, biro, fountain pen, roller ball) so go ahead and make a family heirloom!
