Choosing the right photo album for your wedding photos is a tricky one! However, if you follow these few simple guidelines then I think that you'll find the whole process a bit less of a minefield.
Decide on the size of your wedding photo album
- realistically how many photos do you have that HAVE to go in the album, even after you've culled them
- do you want the wedding photo album to be of the entire wedding eg. getting ready, the service, the reception or just one particular part
- our largest photo albums hold over 400 4" x 6" photos whereas our smallest albums still look lovely with just 30 4" x 6" in them so there is a huge differential between capacity
Think about the colour of the photo album
- do you want to go traditional and choose an ivory colour to keep it simple and classic
- are you after a shade as close as you can get to the bridesmaids' dresses
- do you want the photo album to match the flowers in the bouquet
What about the writing on the front of the wedding album?
- do you want the font to be similar to the font you used on your wedding invitations
- would you like the writing to include lots of detail eg. date, venue
- for you, does the photo album need to mimic the wedding you had or does it need to be a timeless heirloom
Which material would you like your wedding album to be made of?
- linen has a really soft, timeless, elegant and rather simple feel to it. It is also incredibly tactile.
- you could go for a traditional book cloth that comes in a huge variety of colours.
- leather is a very safe bet (we don't do it but Locketts do) and has a really lovely premium feel to it, and then the recycled leather that we have has a much more contemporary and colourful vibe.
With so many considerations its astounding that anyone every gets around to doing their wedding albums! But they do, and it is an incredibly worthwhile task as the photos of your big day will keep the memory alive for you forerver. I got married decades ago and looking through our wedding photo album makes me smile and laugh every time. So many people with a full head of hair...some randoms that neither of us can remember...some people no longer with us...
